Currency: Pound Sterling (£)
Average monthly salary: about 3’616 USD

💡 General Tipping Etiquette

Tipping in the United Kingdom isn’t necessary, but common and always appreciated.

🍽️ Restaurants

If nothing is added and you are happy with the service you’ve received, a tip of around 10-15 per cent is standard. Many restaurants automatically add a service charge to the bill, so do check before leaving a tip.

🚕 Taxis

Round up the fare, if service was excellent (e.g. helping with baggages) you can round up to 10-15 % of the price

🏨 Hotels

2-3 £ per transfer for bellhops and same per night for cleaning staff.

👨‍🌾Tour guides

Adding a couple of pounds is always appreciated (e.g. 5£), not more than 10 % of the price is a good marker.

🌏Region

Check out tipping rules for Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey or Guernsey.
