💡 General Tipping Etiquette

As many sources say, tipping is not part of the culture in Tonga (as in many other pacific countries). Still, small tips are appreciated. However, tipping or “donations” are encouraged during cultural dance performances.

🍽️ Restaurants

Round up the bill up to 5-10 %

🚕 Taxis

Round up the bill if there is a taxometer, if price is fix, don’t tip.

🏨 Hotels

1-2 $ per transfer depending on Hotel (check if there are tipping boxes at the reception; than just put in around 3-5 $ per day)

👨‍🌾Tour guides

Up to 10 % if the tour was good, but not required.
