How to Tip in Thailand 🇹🇭

Currency: Thai baht (฿ or THB)
Average monthly salary: about 465 USD

💡 General Tipping Etiquette

Tipping in Thailand is not mandatory but always appreciated, due to mostly low wages. Be aware, a lot of prices are also negotiated.

🍽️ Restaurants

10 % and round up or down. In a fancy restaurant you can tip a bit less than 10 % (at least 100 baht), sometimes a service charge is added, then there is no need to tip except service was excellent

🚕 Taxis

It is common and recommended to agree on a price in advance. Then there is no need to tip. Otherwise, round up the bill

🏨 Hotels

20-50 baht per transfer depending on amount of bags. In fancy hotels also 100 can be ok for bellhops, 20-50 baht per night (sometimes there are envelopes to put the tip in)

👨‍🌾Tour guides

150 for half a day, 300 for a whole day tour per person

🌏Region

Check out tipping rules for Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia or Indonesia.
