Currency: Hongkong-Dollar (HKD)
Average monthly salary: about 2’430 USD

💡 General Tipping Etiquette

Generally no tipping culture in Hong Kong, an unspoken rule of thumb is to leave bathroom attendants a few coins as it is much appreciated.

🍽️ Restaurants

HKD 5 to 10 at inexpensive restaurants, and about 15% of the bill at fine restaurants. Sometimes it is added to the bill (especially in excepnsive places).

🚕 Taxis

Round up the change, although some taxi drivers won’t take tips at all

🏨 Hotels

HKD 10 to 15 for per piece of luggage carried for you is appropriate (1-2 US $) and 2% of the daily room charge will suffice for the room attendant as well as any smaller change

👨‍🌾Tour guides

Group tours around 10-70 HKD, in private tours there is no need for tipping
