💡 General Tipping Etiquette

Tipping is more common in Ethiopia than in other East African countries, but there aren’t any hard rules for how much you are supposed to tip.

In small restaurants, 20-40 cents is a nice tip. In high-end restaurants, everything up to 10 % is a good marker.

You aren’t expected to tip Taxi because prices are being negotiated

30-60 cents per transfer ( 15-30 birr) for bellhops, 30-40 birr per night for maids

100 birr for half a day, 200 birr for a whole day tour
