💡 General Tipping Etiquette

The average salary in Columbia is very low, especially in the service industry, so tips are appreciated.

🍽️ Restaurants

A service charge can be included on demand often around 10 % will be added on the bill, which is enough. In small family owned restuarants this isn’t common, so you can tip a couple of thousand pesos (1-3 $)

🚕 Taxis

Tipping isn’t customary, but you can round up the fare (30-50 cents = 1000 pesos)

🏨 Hotels

2000-5000 cop per transfer (0.75 – 1.5 $) for bellhops, 2000-3000 pesos per day for cleaning staff

👨‍🌾Tour guides

Depending on group size and fare; 10 % should be enough
