💡 General Tipping Etiquette

Tipping is not customary in China, except in some upscale western-style restaurants.

🍽️ Restaurants

Tipping at fast food restaurant, roadside stands, and most restaurants is neither necessary or expected. In bigger restaurants in cities, a small tip may be appreciated.

🚕 Taxis

Tipping is not required. If the driver helps you with heavy luggage or makes a special effort then  a small tip may be well-received. 

🏨 Hotels

In upscale hotels, tipping 5–30 yuan (1–5 USD) to the bell boy who carries your bag(s) may be appropriate, same for cleaning staff per night

40-100 RMB for a whole day tour
